Reaction officer hurt in Overport house robbery

A Durban reaction officer's been hospitalised after a shootout with robbers in Overport.

Newswatch understands he was responding to a house robbery in Darby Road when he came under fire.
Emer-G-Med's Kyle Van Reenen says paramedics were called to treat the officer on Monday night.
"Reports from the scene are that a male armed reaction officer aged approximately thirty years old was responding to an alarm activation when he encountered an unknown number of armed suspects."

"A shootout ensued, resulting in the officer sustaining a gunshot wound to right lower arm.
"He was treated and stabilised on scene before being taken to a nearby hospital for further care."
Police are investigating.
