Ramokgopa: New nuclear procurement process to start
Updated | By Lauren Beukes
Minister of Electricity Kgosientsho Ramokgopa says that a new nuclear procurement process will now be gazetted.

Ramokgopa briefed the media on Tuesday morning on procuring 2 500 MW of new generation capacity from nuclear, which he says is a reliable form of energy.
South Africa remains in the throes of a power crisis, with scheduled power cuts the daily norm.

"Regarding now, as I stand before you, it is essentially a procurement process. So we are going out to ensure that we are able to get that additional 2 500 megawatts of nuclear capacity to ensure that we are able to meet the issues of national security."
Ramokgopa says all new regulatory requirements have been met.
