Political analyst Dr Imraan Buccus says the appointment of Kgosientsho Ramokgopa as the electricity minister should be welcomed.

The former Tshwane mayor was revealed on Monday night as the person who will lead efforts to end load shedding.

Buccus says Ramokgopa has the relevant skills and engineering background to carry out the task.
"However, that might not be sufficient, barring in mind how contested and how convoluted all of the dynamics around getting rid of load shedding and all the related negativities are.
"So I think he has a hard task ahead of himself, but nonetheless, again, I think all things considered, he really is someone who has the requisite capacity for this position."
