Ramaphosa: Women remain face of poverty in SA
Updated | By Noxolo Miya
President Cyril Ramaphosa says women remain the face of poverty in South Africa.
He's told an economic forum in Pretoria that a fund is being set up to help women with the necessary cash to scale up their businesses.
"The Automotive Industry Transformation Fund has committed to allocate 30 per cent of overall spend to advancing gender transformation in the industry."
Ramaphosa has also lamented the fact that South Africa still has far fewer women entrepreneurs compared to other countries.

He says he hopes the recently established African Continental Free Trade Area will allow more participation of women-owned businesses.
"The AfCFTA is the singular most important opportunity for growth and sustainability in industry for women and young people on the continent.
"Every effort must be made to ensure that this opportunity is explored and taken advantage of."
