It says the President is in good spirits but his health is being monitored.

Ramaphosa, who is fully vaccinated, will remain in self-isolation in Cape Town.

He's delegated all responsibilities to Deputy President David Mabuza for the next week.

The Presidency's added that Ramaphosa, who visited four West African states earlier this month, tested negative for Covid-19 in all countries and after his return to Johannesburg.

Meanwhile, delivering the eulogy at de Klerk's memorial service, Ramaphosa called the former statesman "brave" for starting the democratic transition in 1990.

"Taking such a bold step FW de Klerk went against many in his own party and against many white South Africans who had been taught about the Swart Gevaar who have been brought up to fear majority rule and to regard black aspirations as a threat to the way of life, their culture and their very existence.

“De Klerk went against elements in his own state security operatives and against die-hards who were prepared to take up arms to preserve the status quo.”
