Zuma served as the president from 2009 to 2018 until he was forced by the ANC to resign.

The decision came after several corruption allegations, which eventually culminated in the commission of inquiry into state capture.

The book, titled 'The Words of a President: Jacob Zuma Speaks' was launched on Friday and will be available for purchase on Monday.

Foundation spokesperson, Mzwanele Manyi says the book will reveal the truth about Zuma’s presidential term.

“The launch of this book is actually timely - it comes after the 1st of November when people have spoken loud and clear as to how they feel about things happening in the country,” says Manyi.

He adds: “A lot has been said about his … Zuma, a lot of falsehoods, a lot of untruths have been told. This book is about setting the record straight, it has verbatim accounts of people that today are very quiet, yet they said a lot of flowery stuff on those nine years, so this book is really going to reveal a lot.”

The former president says it was necessary for society to know the truth.

“I feel very good that some South Africans who are patriots have felt that it was not fair for those South Africans who feel differently to tell the kind of stories that were not true, the untruth about the work that we have done,” says Zuma.

“(It) is really important in society for the society to be well informed, to know what has happened because there is no use to create stories because you have a powerful machinery to do so,” he adds.
