It's where the 80-plus ANC NEC members deliberate on the recommendations of the party's working committee, which met over the weekend to process the Phala Phala report.

Among those picketing is MP and deputy minister Philly Mapulane.

As it's widely speculated that the NEC will decide that its MPs should vote against the adoption of the section 89 report in Parliament on Tuesday, lawmaker Philly Mapulane says their move will be dictated by the NEC's decision on Monday.

"I am here today to support President Ramaphosa that he must not step aside," Mapulane said, adding that he supports the president taking the report, which he describes as flawed, on review.

At the same time he admitted to towing the party line.

"If the higher structure has taken a decision, all of us must follow, and we must abide by that decision."

This while suspended ANC member Carl Niehaus repeated his call for the president to step aside.

"President Ramaphosa is not showing the presence of mind - not the political consciousness to take this decision to step aside for the sake of the ANC and therefore I have to continue to deliver the message together with other comrades that the NEC of the ANC must now take the right decision and that is force Cyril Ramaphosa to step down today.
