Ramaphosa reiterates commitment to rebuilding SA
President-elect Cyril Ramaphosa says he is committed to working with Parliament and political parties, to improve the lives of South Africans.
In his speech following his election in the National Assembly yesterday, Ramaphosa told the newly-sworn-in MPs they had a common mandate to build a nation that South Africans yearn for.
"We have been given this responsibility on an overriding basis to revive our economy, to create jobs, to not only bring hope to the masses of our people but to actualise that hope and make sure that indeed - their aspirations are met."
Political party leaders went up to the podium one-by-one to wish Ramaphosa well.

The IFP's Mangosuthu Buthelezi says having served the country for more than 60 years - he's come to recognise the kind of leadership it takes to put South Africa on the right path. He says the country is at a crossroads again, desperate to move away from corruption and toward growth, investment and unity.
"It will take a unique leader to navigate this course - such leader deserves support from among his own ranks as well as from us - in the opposition branches. We are not here to overlook mistakes or turn a blind eye to wrongs. We are here to secure the best interest our country."

The FFP's Pieter Groenewald says Ramaphosa has a huge responsibility on his shoulders.
"You are now the president of the people. All the people of South Africa. You must therefore ensure that the interests of the people of South Africa is more important than the interest of your political party," Groenewald said.
