Ramaphosa: Mthembu a leader who never forgot the people

Locals of Emalahleni in Mpumalanga have braved the rains to line the streets in order to bid farewell as the body of the late Minister Jackson Mthembu makes its way to its final place of rest.

He'll be laid to rest at a cemetery in Witbank.
Delivering his eulogy earlier President Cyril Ramaphosa described Mthembu as a leader for the people who never forgot about the people no matter how high he ascended.

"He stood for the people. He worked for our people and he measured his life based on how loyally he served them", he said.
To the Mthembu family Ramaphosa shared his deepest condolences.

"Our hearts go out to you as you go through the grief of the loss so overwhelming. On behalf of the people of South Africa and government I express deepest condolonces for your loss", Ramaphosa said.
