Ramaphosa appoints Gcaleka as new Public Protector

President Cyril Ramaphosa has appointed Advocate Kholeka Gcaleka as the country's new Public Protector.
The announcement follows a recommendation by the National Assembly.
Gcaleka has been acting in the position since the suspension and impeachment of her predecessor, Busisiwe Mkhwebane.

Presidency spokesperson Vincent Magwenya says Gcaleka will serve for a non-renewable term of seven years with effect from Wednesday.
"The president wishes Advocate Gcaleka well in her position and trusts that she will serve the people of South Africa with honour and dedication."
