R3 Million drug bust made in Camperdown, two men nabbed

Police say narcotics worth over R3 million were recovered from a vehicle yesterday in an intelligence-driven operation in Camperdown.

Spokesperson, Nqobile Gwala says the team from various units was following up on information about a vehicle suspected to be transporting drugs and set up the operation on the N3.
"The suspected vehicle was spotted travelling at a high speed towards Durban. A chase ensued and the vehicle was intercepted."
"A search was conducted and a large quantity of drugs was found in a hidden compartment within the vehicle."

Gwala says police seized 22 bags containing heroin and crystal meth.
"The estimated street value of the recovered drugs is R3 580 500-00. Police also seized R5000-00 in cash from the men."

"The Hawks were contacted and they took over the investigation. Two suspects aged 24 and 42 who were placed under arrest for dealing in drugs appeared before the Camperdown Magistrates Court this morning."
