A KZN police officer remains in critical condition in hospital, after a shootout with robbers in Nkandla.
Another officer, 36-year-old Constable, Happy Dladla, lost his life in the gun battle yesterday afternoon.
SAPS spokesperson, Jay Naicker says acting on a tip-off, the northern KZN cops had gone to a home in Vimbimbobo to investigate a man, apparently in possession of an unlawful firearm.
"As the police officers approached the suspect's homestead, they were met by a hail of bullets emanating from the house and a shoot-out ensued."
