R225m to refurbish drainage systems in Durban south
Updated | By Steve Bhengu
eThekwini Municipality will be spending R225 million to refurbish drainage systems along the Durban south basin.

Deputy Mayor Philani Mavundla says they needed to attend to the situation because the area is where companies such as Toyota SA and Mondi operate from.

"That still needs to go to the full council. The funds we are taking about we set aside over the next three years. We derived a lot of rates from those businesses there," says Mavundla.
"We have almost 50 000 people who are employed by these factories in the south. So it is important to us to get their business back to what it was."
