eThekwini working to restore power across city
Updated | By Gcinokuhle Malinga
eThekwini Municipality says its technicians are working on
repairing power outages across the city.
It says it's been overwhelmed by reports of numerous electricity failures in and around Durban due to prolonged load shedding.
It says the city’s power systems aren't designed for frequent interruptions.
It says loadshedding's led to switch gear and cable failures.
The rainy weather we experienced this week has also put pressure on the system.

The Municipality released a statement on Wednesday night and urged residents to switch off non-essential appliances during load shedding.
It says you can switch them back on 15 minutes after your power's been restored to avoid power trips.
