Quarter of SA households lack access to adequate food – Stats SA

Nearly a quarter of South African homes, 23.1%, lack access to adequate food.
This was one of the findings of the 2023 General Household Survey.
Statistician-General Risenga Maluleke released the results on Thursday.
"Nationally, 23,1% of households considered their access to food as inadequate or severely inadequate,” Maluleke said.

“We saw such inadequate or severely inadequate in the Northern Cape, North West, and Limpopo.
“The survey found that 11.7% of households nationally named small-scale agriculture as their main source of food.”
