Protesting Reservoir Hills residents 'fed up' says councillor
Updated | By Lauren Beukes
A ward councillor says Tuesday's protest in Reservoir Hills was the result of residents being fed with getting no joy from eThekwini Municipality about their issues.
Some community members from the New Germany informal settlement blockaded the M19 off-ramp in the morning with burning debris.
Ward 23 councillor Alicia Kissoon says they have been complaining about several problems.

"The entire settlement currently has two ablution facilities for all the people. There is also an outstanding sewerage leak that predates the floods.
"Residents have been communicating to have eThekwini assist, but unfortunately, they have not got any feedback in regards to time lines to when it will be fixed and they felt they had no option but to protest to be heard."
Kissoon says she's been constant contact with the community leaders to try reach a resolution.

"The community is angry. These things are still outstanding, we need to listen to them.
"I think it is very important that we encourage communities to communicate with us effectively to find solutions so that they don't have to resort to things like protests."
