Protest erupts at UKZN Edgewood Campus

Police are on the scene of a protest at the University of KwaZulu-Natal's Edgewood Campus in Pinetown.
eThekwini metro police spokesperson Geraldine Stevens says security personnel have gone on strike.
"The strike is on the premises. The reason of the strike at the moment is unknown. There is no obstruction to the roadway.
"All security personnel, including the metro police and SAPS are on scene. For now, the situation is stable."

Stevens says officers have also been deployed to KwaXimba, where another demonstration's underway.
"At the moment we have a service delivery protest in KwaXimba. The roadway is closed."
Motorists have been asked to avoid these routes in the morning.
