Pros and cons of youth leadership

Youth Day is only two days away and some young KwaZulu-Natal residents are already thinking about what their generation can bring to the table.

An emphasis on young leadership across different spheres, such as political and corporate, has been made as people realise that young minds are key.
Some young Durbanites have told Newswatch what they think the advantages and disadvantages of investing in young leaders are.

"They've got new ideas on how to develop the country, the cons will be inexperience, but what can bring both together will be leadership from a higher authority," Uveer Ramparsad said.
"I think the pros of having young leaders will be their ability to connect with the next generation and come up with new perspectives. However the wealth of experience which older leaders bring is a valued commodity," Charlene Pillay said.
"They have fresh minds, people who will think out of the box and won't follow what is now considered standard conventional stuff," Sthembiso Dlamini said.
