Probe into alleged Covid-19 TERS fraud
Updated | By Gcinokuhle Malinga
Officials from the Department of Employment and Labour are investigating bogus employers who have been defrauding government's Covid-19 TERS benefits.

The department's Teboho Thejane says the complaints came through from people whose requests for the Social Relief of Distress Grants from the South African Social Security Agency were declined.
"The department has noticed with serious concern a surge in public complaints regarding bogus employers who allegedly have illegally used job seekers' identity numbers to register them with the fund and claimed for Covid-19 TERS benefits including all other unemployment funds."
