Ex-Transnet chief Siyabonga Gama back in court in August

The corruption and fraud case against former Transnet CEO Siyabonga Gama and four others has been postponed to 29 August.

The accused appeared in the Palm Ridge Specialised Crimes Court on Wednesday in connection with a R93 million tender to procure 1064 locomotives.
Gama, former Transnet acting Group CFO Garry Pita, former Group Treasurer Phetolo Ramosebudi, Gupta-linked companies Regiments shareholder Eric Wood and Trillian Asset Management Director Daniel Roy appeared in the Palm Ridge Specialised Commercial Crimes Court.

They were arrested last month by the Hawks on charges of corruption, fraud, money laundering, and contravention of the Public Finance Management Act.
The case relates to the evidence that was presented to the commission of inquiry into state capture.
Wood was released on R250 000 bail, Gama and two others on R50 000 each, and Ramosebudi on R25 000.
Spokesperson for the NPA’s Investigating Directorate Sindisiwe Seboka says the matter was postponed for further investigations.
