Probe into drowning of boy (10) in Verulam river

KZN police have
launched an investigation after a ten-year-old boy drowned in a river in
Verulam, north of Durban
It's alleged that the child and a man were amongst others swimming in the Oakford River on Thursday when the incident occurred.
The man had been giving the boy a piggyback ride when the two got into difficulty in the water.
The boy then allegedly fell in and disappeared.

Reaction Unit South Africa's Prem Balram says a helicopter had to be brought in for the search.
"The children and adult were possibly playing in the water at the time of drowning. SAPS Search and Rescue came out with divers. The air rescue was conducted at 15.30 and we searched the river banks for about 25 minutes and the SAPS divers located the body approximately four hours later."
