A man was killed yesterday after a goods train slammed into his vehicle at a railway crossing at Etete, near KwaDukuza on the north coast.

Reports from the scene are that he had been crossing the railway line at the time. IPSS Medical Rescue spokesperson, Paul Herbst says he was declared dead on the scene.

"His vehicle was dragged about 50m [before] the train came to a stop. Paramedics had to declare him dead on arrival due to his critical injuries," Herbst said.
