Updated | By Nushera Soodyal
KwaZulu-Natal Health has launched a probe into Durban's Prince Mshiyeni Hospital, after a patient was apparently discharged with open wounds.

The woman's condition came to light after a video of her at home was shared.
Health MEC Nomagugu Simelane-Zulu says in the video, the patient's daughter can also be heard claiming her mother was assaulted and insulted by healthcare workers during her stay in hospital.
The MEC's spokesperson, Noluthando Nkosi, says after seeing the footage on Wednesday, an ambulance was sent out to pick the woman up from her Umlazi home.

"In the investigation, MEC Simelane said we must probe whether or not the patient was managed correctly in terms of clinical assessments and whether she should have been discharged in her state.
"Furthermore, it needs to establish whether the patient can identify who allegedly assaulted and insulted her. The MEC stressed the most important goal at the moment is that the patient receives the urgent medical care that she requires."
