Frustrated Port Shepstone residents spend days without power
Updated | By Noxolo Miya
A Port Shepstone
resident, whose community was left in the dark for days during a power failure,
has been speaking about their struggles during the blackouts.
Eskom in KZN says
technicians battled to access a blown transformer due to the heavy downpours
recently.
But they managed to complete repairs on Tuesday, bringing relief to Palmview's residents, who had been without electricity and water for almost a week.
A resident Newswatch spoke to says the extended outage put a strain on their pockets.
"We had a problem with our lights that went off from last week Thursday. The streetlights blew off, the transformer as well.

"We couldn't touch the taps or shower because it was shocking us, and our food all got spoilt. Some of the houses and the DV boxes blew up, and the plug points all blew up.
She added: "It was such a great concern because we got elderly folks. Our Neighbours are 80 years old. We have some that are 60 years old and cannot shower.
"Our councilors as well were trying to get hold of Eskom, and they were not taking the call. Our councilor did try to keep us updated on what's happening."
