Police search for suspects in Ladysmith fatal shooting
Updated | By Puseletso Petersen
A manhunt is underway for those behind yesterday's Ladysmith shooting incident.
Five people, including the deputy chairman of a local taxi association, were killed when gunmen ambushed their bakkie on the N11.
The bakkie then crashed into another vehicle transporting teachers to a nearby school - claiming six more lives.
"The manhunt for the suspects is ongoing. The case is being investigated by the provincial taxi violence task team. They are going to follow on it. And I'm sure they will make arrests," says police spokesperson Thembeka Mbhele.
Meanwhile, KZN Premier Willies Mchunu has condemned the incident.

The Office of the Premier says yesterday's violence is a result of conflict over routes. Mchunu says the province cannot become engulfed by such incidents in the taxi industry.
He says there is a need to engage with all stakeholders to stabilise the industry in the best interest of commuters and the people of KZN.
Mchunu has conveyed his condolences to the victims of the attack.
