Police to brief Portfolio Committee on Durban bomb threats
Updated | By Bernadette Wolhuter
The Portfolio Committee on Police says it'll invite the SAPS to give a detailed briefing on the recent bomb threats in Durban, next month.
At least seven improvised devices have been found in and around the city over the past two weeks.
Several of them were discovered in Woolworths stores, with the latest seized from the retailer's Dr Pixley KaSeme Street branch in the CBD just yesterday.
There have also been a number of hoax bomb threats called in during the same period.

Committee chair, Francois Beukman has called for intensified intelligence gathering and proactive interventions, to address the trend.
"We also believe that crime intelligence has to play a strategic role if this trend is to be curtailed. We believe the support of the community is vital to provide the SAPS with leads and information so that they can arrest those perpetrators," Beukman said.
