Police probe Glenwood attempted hijacking

Durban police are investigating a case of attempted murder
following a botched hijacking in Glenwood on Friday night.

Officers say a motorist was approached by two armed suspects
while trying to park his SUV at his home in Helen Joseph Road (that is the old
Davenport Road) in the vicinity of Lena Ahrens Road (formerly Manning Road).

SAPS spokesperson, Nqobile Gwala says the suspects did not know the motorist was armed and a shoot-out ensued.
“The suspects then fled the scene. Umbilo police are investigating
a case of attempted murder and attempted carjacking,” she said.

Gwala says no arrests have been made.
Residents who took to social media after the incident said online that the road was closed for several hours.
