Marshall Security's Kyle van Reenen says emergency services established an intricate rope-rescue system to lower medics down to the men.

"Upon further investigations, medics found two men, about 20-years-old, had sustained multiple stab wounds. They were treated and stabilised on scene before being hoisted back up to the roadway where ambulances were waiting to transport them to hospital, said Van Reenen.

"One man was in a critical condition."

The circumstances around the incident are still unclear at this stage.

Traffic was severely affected in the area, as emergency services treated the men on scene and hoisted them onto the M4 bridge at Blue Lagoon during the morning traffic peak.
