Police probe culpable homicide after fatal Durban crash

Police are investigating cases of culpable homicide following a crash near Umgeni in KwaDukuza on Tuesday morning - which left seven people dead.

It's understood the driver lost control of the vehicle - which then overturned several times on the flyover from the M19 joining N2.

An eighth person has been taken to hospital.
Transport Minister, Fikile Mbalula has lamented the deaths.
"What we know for sure is that this light motor vehicle was heavily overloaded. It's a five-seater, but it was carrying eight passengers at the time of the crash," says spokesperson Ayanda Allie-Payne.
She added: "Investigations into the exact cause are underway. Minister Mbalula has sent his condolences to the bereaved. His also wished the injured a swift and full recovery."
