They are yet to make arrests in the case.
It's understood that undercover officials conducted an inspection after receiving a tip-off about a container loaded with drugs inside a vessel from Brazil.
Hawks spokesperson, Simphiwe Mhlongo says while inspecting the container, they discovered a hidden compartment.
"The found 32 bricks of cocaine weighing approximately 1.1 kilogram in the container compartment.
"They tried to make follow up regarding where the container was destined to - it's still in progress as the investigation is continuing."
Mhlongo says no arrests have been made at this stage.
The estimated street value of the recovered drugs is R16 million.
