Police probe after suspect shot, killed in Durban robbery

Police are investigating an attempted robbery at a sports club in Durban's Stamford Hill area yesterday.
According to police, a security guard on duty had been responding to an alarm that went off at a club when he was attacked by two suspects wielding rods and stones.
The guard retaliated fatally shooting one of the suspects.

Spokesperson Thulani Zwane says an inquest docket has been opened.
"It is alleged that the two suspects started to attack the security guard with iron rods and well as stones. The security guard allegedly shot and killed one of the suspects and the other one ran away. There are no arrests made and this matter is still under investigation," he said.
