Police launch probe after infant found floating in Durban harbour

KwaZulu-Natal police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a baby boy.
Durban harbour workers, at a container terminal, spotted the infant in the water on Thursday.
Police search and rescue personnel recovered the child's body.

SAPS spokesperson, Nqobile Gwala says the newborn was found with the umbilical cord still attached.
"The body was recovered by search and rescue police officers. An inquest docket was opened for investigation at the Maydon Wharf police station. The circumstances surrounding the incident is still being investigated," she says
