KwaZulu-Natal police have now opened an inquest docket in connection with the death of a south coast man who allegedly murdered his young niece and nephew at the weekend.

Two-year-old, Thobane Khwane and three-year-old, Siyamthanda Smith were killed at their grandmother's home in Bhobhoyi near Port Shepstone on Sunday.
Police say the cousins' uncle, Wiseman Smith allegedly attacked the children and their grandmother before fleeing the scene.
SAPS spokesperson, Nqobile Gwala says officers now believe the uncle threw himself in front of a truck on the N2.
Gwala says the man is believed to have had a history of mental illness.
"It is alleged that Wiseman Smith headed to the N2 near Harding Road where he flung himself in front of a passing vehicle and was fatally injured. Police have registered two counts of murder, one of attempted murder for further investigation," she says.
The grandmother remains in hospital.
