Pietermaritzburg N3 stabbing leaves man critical

A 64-year-old man is in a serious condition in hospital following a stabbing incident on the N3 in Pietermaritzburg.
The man was attacked near the Church Street bridge yesterday. He had been hitch-hiking when he was approached by two men demanding money.

Netcare911's Nick Dollman says the man was overpowered before being stabbed and robbed.
"Paramedics attended to the victim at the scene. He was in a serious condition and he had been stabbed in the chest. He was stabilised by paramedics at the scene and transported to hospital by ambulance for further treatment," he said.
Meanwhile, another man was stabbed on the N2 near Chesterville in Durban after his car broke down on Saturday.
