KwaZulu-Natal police say they have made another bust in investigations into copper theft, nabbing four suspects this week.

KwaMakhutha officers were tipped-off about a group manufacturing pots out of copper at a warehouse in eMbuthisweni.
"Police seized copper and other tools that were used to manufacture the pots valued at R450 000," says SAPS provincial spokesperson Thenjiswa Ngcobo.

Ngcobo says when police asked the men about the melted copper they were using, they couldn't explain where they got the raw material from.
"The suspects who are aged between 24 and 46 were arrested for possession of stolen goods, tampering with essential infrastructure and for contravening the Immigration Act.
"They were detained at KwaMakhutha SAPS. They appeared before Umbumbulu Magistrate's Court."

An illegal scrap yard owner, who was running a similar operation, was arrested in Ntuzuma, north of Durban, last month.
