Phoenix wife, domestic worker accused of trying to kill husband

Four women are set to line up in the Verulam
Magistrate's Court today for allegedly trying to kill a Phoenix homeowner.
Police say the elderly victim's wife and their domestic worker are among the suspects.
Spokesperson, Thembeka Mbele says they'd put a plastic bag over the 62-year-old man's head.
"The victim was seated in the lounge of his home in Phoenix watching TV when he was attacked by three women who covered his head with a bin bag."

"The women began strangling him with a scarf. The victim fought back and he managed to remove the bag from his head. He then realised that one of the women was his domestic helper."
"The attack persisted as the suspects attempted to suffocate him. While the attack was in the progress the suspects were joined by the victim’s wife who also attempted to suffocate him," she says.

She says the man fought back and was able to activate the panic button.
A neighbour rushed to his aid, and the women were later arrested.
They'll face charges of attempted murder and conspiracy to murder.
