Phoenix unrest murder suspects abandon bail

Three men arrested in connection with last month's murders in Phoenix, north of Durban have abandoned their bids for bail.
At least 38 people lost their lives in the area in alleged vigilante killings during the unrest.
National Prosecution Authority KZN spokesperson, Natasha Kara says the trio lined up in the Verulam Magistrate’s Court.

"Today (Thursday) Dylan Govender, charged with one count of murder and one count of attempted murder, Ned Govender, charged with one count of murder and Jeetendra Jaikissoon, charged with one count of murder advised the court, via their legal representative, that they will be abandoning their application for bail.
"The matter was postponed to 13 September 2021 for further investigations."
