Phoenix school shut after two pupils contract COVID-19

A Durban school has had to be closed due to coronavirus cases.

Two pupils at Crystal Point Secondary School in Phoenix tested positive for COVID-19.
The KZN Education Department says it was contacted on Friday morning and informed about the learners in Grade 8 and 9.
Departmental spokesperson, Muzi Mahlambi says the health department has been notified - and contact tracing is under way
In a letter to parents seen by Newswatch - the school said deep cleaning and decontamination would happen immediately.

It says matric trials exams that were scheduled for today continued normally as they are written at a different venue.
The Department says pupils will return to the school on Monday.
It's reminding parents whose children display symptoms to immediately seek medical attention.
The Department says it will remain on high alert as the country moves to alert Level 1 on Monday.
