The State wants the mother at the centre of the Phoenix assault case to be prevented from seeing her four-year-old daughter for the duration of court proceedings.
The case against the 25-year-old woman and her partner has been adjourned until the end of this month.
The two face charges of attempted murder after video footage of the child being beaten emerged online.

The woman and her partner today appeared briefly in the Verulam Magistrates Court.
The prosecutor told the court, that the State intends to add a bail condition that the mother and her boyfriend be barred from seeing the child while the case continues.
The mother's lawyer opposed the request - saying there's an ongoing case at the children's court that needs to be taken into account.
