The Phoenix girl at the centre of a brutal assault video that shocked KwaZulu-Natal has taken her first steps since being admitted to a Durban hospital.
The 4-year-old was left unconscious after being assaulted, allegedly by her mother and her partner last month.
The couple is due back in court in April on charges of attempted murder.

The biological father's lawyer, Kelvin Walker says the little girl took her first, assisted steps this week.
The video of the assault enraged the Greater Durban community, with people calling for justice for the little girl.
Police confirmed earlier in the month that the mother's boyfriend requested to have his bail revoked out of fear for his own safety.
