Phoenix mom, daughter (2) killed in bush knife attack

A mother and her two-year-old daughter have died after they were attacked at their home in Phoenix, north of Durban.

Residents heard screams coming from the Mount Royal property on Wednesday and went to investigate.
Police say they were hacked with a bush knife by someone known to them.
The suspect is on the run.

KZN VIP Medic spokesperson, Gareth Naidoo says the child died while she was being rushed to hospital.
"Unfortunately, a female believed to be in her 30s succumbed to her injuries and there was a two-year-old female child that was in a critical condition.
"Her hands were cut up, she had a massive laceration to the head, to both her arms. There was a pool of blood. It was shocking." says Naidoo.
