Phoenix family reeling after tragic crash

A holiday in the Drakensberg has ended in tragedy for a Phoenix family.

The family of six was travelling back to Durban on Friday when a truck slammed into their vehicle on the N3 in Harrismith.
A six-year-old girl and an eight-year-old boy were ejected from the car and died at the scene.
A relative who spoke to Newswatch says the father was trapped in the wreckage for three hours - while three other family members suffered minor injuries.

The relative - who's asked not to be named - says the father remains in a critical condition in hospital.
"Currently we are going through a very trying time. We are in a state of shock. We are in consultation with all the specialists.
"We don't want to dwell into it. We are trying to be fine ourselves in this entire dilemma. Its been tragic for us."
Police in Harrismith are investigating a culpable homicide case.
