Phoenix cable thieves caught red-handed

Four men who posed as contractors have been caught allegedly trying to steal cables in Phoenix, north of Durban.

Swift police action led to the on the spot arrests this past weekend.
Officers patrolling the R102 saw the men digging trenches in the ground.

KZN police spokesperson, Jay Naicker says after taking a closer look, they found the group busy cutting exposed cables.
"It's alleged that the men were about to pull out the cables when police arrived. Four suspects aged between 27 and 37 were placed under arrest for tampering with essential infrastructure."
"They are expected to appear in the Verulam Magistrate's Court tomorrow," he said.
