Phakamani Hadebe appointed Eskom CEO
Updated | By Jarryd Subroyen
Acting Eskom CEO, Phakamani Hadebe has been appointed the new head of the power utility.
Public Enterprises Minster, Pravin Gordhan made the announcement today saying that Cabinet approved the recommendation by the utility's board.
Gordhan has been revealing the appointment of new board members at State-owned enterprises. He says the new structures and senior management have an important role to play.
"They must re-instill an ethical culture into State-owned entities. Clearly, we have lost a lot of ground in this particular regard. The malfeasance that all of us know about and the consequences of State capture run quite deep. Once you have such a deep culture of malfeasance it takes a tremendous effort on the part of the board and senior managers to get this process right," Gordan said.

He added there are plans to merge Mango Airlines, SAA and SA Express. Changes at Transnet and Denel were also announced.
