Pavilion steps up security following deadly robbery

The Pavilion Shopping Centre says it handed all information and evidence to police after a robbery and shooting on Sunday night.

A gang of robbers held up staff and customers at two jewellery stores in the mall.
As the suspects were getting away, they encountered a police car and opened fire.

Sergeant Riyadh Adams was shot and died later in hospital.
Pavilion general manager Vicky Deppe says they are saddened by Sergeant Adams' passing.
She says they have bolstered their security at the mall, including having deployed armed response vehicles following the incident.
Management says there's also increased visibility of security patrols, while spikes have been installed at parking exits.
Officer Adams, who was with the Cato Manor Trio Task Team, is being laid to rest today.
