Parly arsonist Zandile Mafe unfit to stand trial

The Western Cape High Court has made a decision on the fitness of the man accused of setting fire to Parliament to stand trial.
"My finding is in concurrence with the experts that as is commonly known is a finding of not fit to stand trial. Mr Mafe is unable to follow court proceedings and to make a proper defence," said presiding Judge Nathan Erasmus.
Zandile Mafe appeared in the Western Cape High Court in Cape Town on Monday morning.

Mafe was diagnosed with schizophrenia by a group of specialists at the Eastern Cape's Fort England Hospital.
He was arrested in connection with the fire that destroyed the Parliament's old and National Assembly buildings in January last
Mafe previously admitted to torching the legislature.
But the presiding Judge says he doesn’t believe Mafe is able to clearly follow court proceedings.
