Parents urged to watch children bathing

Lifesaving South Africa has appealed to beachgoers, to keep a close watch on their children at all times.

The association's Dhaya Sewduth says the majority of victims involved in water tragediesare children between the ages of five and 14 years.
He has called for vigilance as coastal cities gear up for an influx of holiday makers for the festive season.
Sewdath says parents have the responsibility to keep their little ones safe at all times. \

"You got to make sure you supervise your child especially when there is large crowds the life guard might not see your child in difficulty.
"The lesson is all about supervision as one of the key messages but again if they are swimming within the bathing beacon at last the least guards have sights."
