Pappas to step down as DA KZN deputy leader
Updated | By Lauren Beukes
Democratic Alliance KZN deputy leader Chris Pappas has announced he will be stepping down from his position.
Pappas says he won't be standing for re-election as he is now focusing on his big task as mayor of the Umngeni Local Municipality.
"People have put a lot of hope in us to deliver and to show that there is an alternative government in the province and I take that very seriously."

'So, my focus is on governance and showing the people of KZN that we can do better and we can have something different."
He says he hopes whoever will take up the position will dedicate their time and effort to the organisation.
"In doing so, make sure that they are listening to a wide variety of voices in the province and bringing those together and holding government accountable so that we see a better future and that is the ultimate goal of a political party."
