Overcharged and fed up, Msunduzi residents fume over utility bills

Msunduzi says residents with higher than usual utility bills need to inform the municipality of their issues, as soon as possible.

Some ratepayers say they've been overcharged from January. 

Municipal spokesperson, Thobeka Mafumbatha says you'll need to submit a copy of the account you're disputing. 

This will help them rectify any billing errors.

Cleland resident Jacyn Fanner says she was charged more than R500 twice from the beginning of the year. She says they have other concerns. 

"The main issue that we are facing at the moment is quite a nightmare," She says. 

"We are being disconnected and being charged anything between R400 and R600 for disconnection and reconnection fee and sadly some of the times these disconnections haven't even happened."
