OUTA ‘ready’ to discuss corruption claims with Nzimande

The Organisation Undoing Tax Abuse says it's happy to meet with Higher Education Minister Blade Nzimande to discuss its damning claims against him.

Outa says it stands by a report and leaked audio recordings that place Nzimande and the NSFAS board chairperson Ernest Khosa at the centre of alleged corruption at the student fund.

They're accusing Nzimande of receiving kickbacks from companies doing business with the National Student Financial Aid Scheme.

Speaking at a media briefing in Gauteng on Monday, Nzimande said he would approach the ANC's Integrity committee to state his side of the story.

"At the moment, I am exploring all legal options that I have, which, of course, would include my lawyers studying this Outa statement.

"The sooner Outa gives all that they have, the better because the one option I'm considering is to demand that whatever other information they claim they have, they must put it on the table but I don't want to pre-end on what my advice is going to be, because my lawyers are actually looking into this.

Responding to the minister’s statement, Outa spokesperson Rudie Heyneke said they will heed the minister’s call to discuss the report and make themselves available to those investigating the claims.
